Out for Jon Robinson: The Tennessee Titans have parted ways with their general manager. The franchise announced the news on Tuesday.

Munich – Surprising personnel decision for the Tennessee Titans: The team has parted ways with general manager Jon Robinson.

The franchise confirmed the move with a statement from Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk.

“I believe we have made significant progress both on and off the field through investments in leadership, personnel and new ideas,” she said.

Titans owner: Higher goals must be achieved

She is proud of what has been achieved in the eight years she has been owner, she stressed, but can comes the big but: “I believe there is more to be done and higher goals to be achieved. “

Ryan Cowden, the Titans’ vice president of player personnel, will take over GM duties for now. A comprehensive search for a successor is expected to begin after the 2022 season.

Robinson statistically one of Titans best GMs

The incoming GM will have big shoes to fill either way. Robinson was the only general manager in franchise history thus far to achieve six straight winning seasons.

Under his leadership, Tennessee reached the playoffs in four of the past five years, even going all the way to the AFC Championship Game in 2019. The franchise finished atop the AFC South the past two seasons, and this year they are on pace for a third straight division title.

However, it probably won’t be enough for the No. 1 spot in the AFC this time around, as it was last season. Still, since Robinson took over in 2016, the Titans have the ninth-best record (.606 Winning Percentage) in the league and the fifth-best (.667) against division rivals.
