Renovation too expensive: Tennessee Titans aim for new stadium

The Tennessee Titans have been playing in Nissan Stadium since 1999. Instead of a renovation, however, an entirely new stadium could now be built in Nashville.

Nashville/Munich – Originally, the Tennessee Titans wanted to renovate their home Nissan Stadium.

The costs were initially estimated at just under 600 million US dollars. But now, as is so often the case, everything seems to be getting a little more expensive.

Renovation costs increase to over one billion US dollars

As reported by the “Tennessean”, the work needed is said to have turned out to be much more extensive – the calculated costs exploded to almost double.

In a statement, the franchise wrote: “We worked with several experts and found that the stadium would require much more infrastructure than we originally anticipated.”

For example, the entire concrete support structure would have to be replaced with steel, and the electrical system would also need a complete overhaul, according to the statement.

New stadium probably “more responsible “

This is why the franchise is now considering “a different approach”. Specifically, it wants a new stadium. “Considering the current and future needs of our current stadium, it’s possible that a modern, new stadium could better serve the needs of the community and be a more responsible option.”

He said they now want to take a step back and re-evaluate the overall situation.

The Titans have played at Nissan Stadium since 1999, when the outdoor arena cost a whopping $290 million.
