Las Vegas/Munich – Demolished cars and one fatality: Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs III was involved in a traffic accident in Las Vegas early Tuesday morning.

According to a police report, the Raiders receiver collided with another car, apparently hitting the rear of the other vehicle. While the 22-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries, the other victim’s car burst into flames.

The person inside the Toyota died at the scene of the accident.

Ruggs is charged with driving under the influence

According to the police report, Ruggs was inattentive and appeared to be under the influence of drugs – however, this would include alcohol.

Las Vegas police announced that Ruggs will be charged with unlicensed driving under the influence of drugs resulting in death.

According to an “ESPN” report, there was a female passenger in the Raiders pro’s car who also had to be treated at the hospital.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ruggs was admitted to the Clark County Detention Centre where he is awaiting trial.

Ruggs had himself lost childhood friend Rod Scott in a car accident in 2016. After big plays and touchdowns, the receiver still pays tribute to him by extending three fingers – Scott was wearing the number 3 – to the sky.

The Las Vegas Raiders announced in a press release, “The Raiders are aware that Henry Ruggs III was involved in an accident that occurred this morning in Las Vegas. We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family. We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time. “

20 years imprisonment threatened

Already several months ago, Raiders running back Josh Jacobs was involved in a car accident and was arrested for drunk driving. However, a subsequent investigation revealed that Jacobs’ blood alcohol level was below the legal limit and no charges were filed.

Whether the Ruggs will have to go to jail is unclear at this time. However, given the severity of the accident, it seems likely. If convicted, he apparently faces up to 20 years in prison.

His NFL career is thus threatened with an abrupt end.
