The Pittsburgh Steelers have put an abrupt end to the hype train surrounding quarterback Will Levis of the Tennessee Titans. In the Thursday Night Game, the Steelers narrowly retained the upper hand. There were big concerns about Titans receiver Treylon Burks
The Pittsburgh Steelers stopped rookie Will Levis’ next show and brought the Tennessee Titans quarterback back down to earth in the Thursday Night Game of NFL Week 9.
The Steelers celebrated a narrow 20-16 (10-13) victory over the Titans and improved their record to 5-3, keeping the playoffs clearly in sight for Pittsburgh. The Titans, on the other hand, conceded a potentially decisive defeat in the AFC duel and now have three wins and five defeats.
Four days after his acclaimed debut against the Atlanta Falcons, when he threw four touchdown passes, Levis had a much harder time this time, as expected. The visitors’ quarterback completed 22 of his 39 passes, gaining 262 yards in the process.
Levis was not allowed a touchdown, star receiver DeAndre Hopkins made four catches for 60 yards. Running back Derrick Henry scored the only touchdown for the Titans midway through the second quarter.
Shortly before the end, the Titans still had a chance to win and were already in the Steelers’ red zone when Levis sealed his team’s defeat with an interception with the last action of the game just seconds before the end.
The Steelers’ Kenny Pickett, battling a rib injury, completed 19 passes on 30 attempts, threw for 160 yards and found Diontae Johnson in the end zone late in the fourth quarter. This gave the Steelers the lead and the Titans could no longer counterattack.
Concerns about Titans receiver Treylon Burks
The game was overshadowed by a scary moment for Titans receiver Treylon Burks. The 23-year-old landed hard out of bounds on a failed catch and was apparently unconscious afterwards. Medical staff from both teams immediately rushed over to help Burks. The players went to their knees.
Burks was stabilized on a stretcher and was already giving a thumbs up as he was taken away. Head coach Mike Vrabel gave the all-clear after the game. Burks is awake and can move all extremities, he said.
