The Jacksonville Jaguars turn the game around against the New England Patriots and win at Wembley Stadium in London. The Jags provide the highlight with a spectacular touchdown shortly before halftime.
In a duel between two disappointing teams in the new NFL season so far, the Jacksonville Jaguars clearly defeated the New England Patriots on Sunday.
The Florida franchise won 32-16 at Wembley Stadium in London and improved their record to 2-5. The Patriots suffered their sixth defeat in five games this season in the away game in the English capital.
Jags quarterback Trevor Lawrence threw for 193 yards and a touchdown. He did not throw an interception.
His counterpart Drake Maye put up strong statistics, throwing for 276 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. It was not enough for the Patriots though.
Jags receiver Parker Washington provided the highlight of the game with a 96-yard punt return touchdown at the end of the second quarter.
Jaguars turn the game around
The Patriots got off to a much better start in the game. Running back JaMycal Hasty scored the only points in the first quarter.
Kicker Joey Slye extended the Pats’ lead to 10-0 with a 41-yard field goal at the start of the second quarter, but then the Jaguars started their comeback.
With three touchdowns and a subsequent two-point conversion, the offense around Lawrence turned the score around to make it 22:10 to Jacksonville at half-time.
The Patriots and quarterback May tried to turn the game around again in the second half and reduced the deficit to nine points.
Jags running back Tank Bigsby put all doubts about the win to rest with his touchdown to make it 32:16 shortly before the end.
