Tyreek Hill has once again attracted negative attention. This time, the police had to be called to a domestic dispute. It is not the first time that Hill has been in trouble. However, he has never been suspended for an NFL game. The NFL must finally crack down – a commentary.
Tyreek Hill again. Police intervention again. Again, problems keeping himself under control.
Just this week, police had to intervene again at NFL receiver Tyreek Hill’s home. The cause was a marital dispute with his wife Keeta Vaccaro, who is now said to have filed for divorce.
Hill is said to have grabbed their four-month-old daughter and fled with her to the balcony. The apartment is on the 35th floor of an apartment complex.
Police discovered bruises on Vaccaro’s chest when they arrived. However, she herself described the injuries as an accident and was unsure of the exact cause.
No charges were filed against Hill, but the NFL is still investigating the incident and could suspend Hill.
It is by no means the first time that Tyreek Hill has attracted attention, to put it flatteringly.
There have never been any serious consequences. Because it never escalated completely? No reason!
The league should set an example. An example before something worse happens. An example that maybe Hill will finally understand.
The Dolphins receiver already attracted negative attention in college in 2014. Domestic violence against his then-pregnant girlfriend led to his expulsion from Oklahoma State. And a three-year suspended prison sentence.
West Alabama took him on a little later – even though coach Brett Gilliand read the police report.
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted him almost a year and a half later – even though they knew about his past and there was massive criticism. Also from former players of the franchise.
Threats and fisticuffs
And Hill? He was noticed over and over again in the following years. In 2019, there were investigations into child abuse. Hill is said to have broken his son’s arm. The medical examinations showed that it was an accident.
Nevertheless, there are audio recordings in which Hill is heard to have responded to his then-girlfriend’s statement that her son was afraid of him with the words, “You should be afraid of me, too, bitch.”
Because it happened during the offseason, Hill was briefly suspended from team activities, but was allowed to return to normal team training and play the following season.
In 2023, Hill was investigated for allegedly assaulting an employee of the Haulover Marine Center. The two settled out of court.
League can react without conviction
In the same year, there were several paternity suits against Hill, who did not pay any child support. Some of them were upheld by the court. Hill currently pays child support for eight children with five different women. Some tabloid sources claim he even has between 11 and 13 children.
In other cases, such as an influencer’s broken leg, which Hill claims happened during a tantrum, or a police stop before a Dolphins game that resulted in Hill being handcuffed, a lot of information is missing for more context.
Nevertheless, it is striking how often Hill comes into conflict with the law – and repeatedly gets off scot-free.
There have never been any consequences – real consequences – for Hill! The NFL should finally set an example and suspend Hill before something really bad happens!
