With three games left in the regular season, the Tennessee Titans have seen enough. Quarterback Will Levis is no longer the starter after another horror show.
A passer rating of 49, three interceptions, not a single touchdown. Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis had a bad night against the Cincinnati Bengals, once again. With a record of 3-11, the last of the AFC South has now pulled the rip cord.
His quarterback rating of 30.2 is the second-worst in the NFL. Only the Cleveland Browns’ Deshaun Watson, who is out with an Achilles tendon rupture, has a worse stat.
After Levis was benched in the third quarter in the duel with the Bengals, this decision will apparently now be permanent. Backup Mason Rudolph, a third-round pick in the 2019 draft and since then a backup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, is taking over as the Titans’ starting quarterback, according to ESPN.
Rudolph had already started in October when Levis suffered from a shoulder injury.
Titans QBs: Quo vadis?
The quarterback strategy of the coming years can supposedly also be seen in the decision of the southern states franchise. The Titans are clearly on track for a top-10 pick in the 2025 draft, where they can probably get a highly talented playmaker.
With Rudolph returning to the free agent market after the current season and Will Levis providing a cost-effective backup through his two-year rookie contract (worth $2.602 million in 2025), the Titans are ideally positioned to have a balanced offense.
