NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers sign Brian Flores as assistant coach

Ex-Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is causing a stir worldwide with his lawsuit against the NFL. Now the Pittsburgh Steelers announce they’ve added the 40-year-old to their coaching staff

Munich – Surprising news from the NFL: Brian Flores has a new job.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have added the former Miami Dolphins head coach to their coaching staff, naming him senior defensive assistant/linebackers coach. The franchise announced in a statement.

“I am excited to have Brian Flores join our coaching staff. Especially in light of the fact that he has developed and taught many defensive players during his time in the NFL,” Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was quoted as saying in the team’s statement. “Brian’s resume speaks for itself and I look forward to him lending his expertise to our team.”

Flores played collegiately in Boston before signing on with the Patriots’ personnel department for four years. He went on to spend 11 years coaching at various positions in New England before becoming the Dolphins’ head coach in 2019.

Brian Flores sues NFL and three teams

Last month, he was relieved of his duties there and had subsequently filed a 60-page lawsuit against the league and three teams, causing a worldwide stir.

So he accused the NFL and namely the Dolphins, the New York Giants and the Denver Broncos of racially discriminating against him and other fellow coaches.

He also stated, among other things, that he had once been offered 100,000 US dollars by the owner of the Dolphins for each defeat in order to look as bad as possible at the end of the season and thus obtain the highest possible draft pick.
