At a media roundtable on Tuesday, New England Patriots offensive lineman Trent Brown speaks. It’s not all about sports, the right tackle reveals he almost died last year
Munich/Foxborough – The New England Patriots’ 45-7 win over the Cleveland Browns was only the second game of the season for Trent Brown, the veteran right tackle for Bill Belichick’s team. Brown was placed on the Injured Reserve list after the 16-17 loss in week one to the Miami Dolphins.
After making his comeback, the 6-foot-3 hoarder spoke about the game and opened up about how he almost didn’t get to return to the team he won the Super Bowl with in 2018.
Brown: “Almost died “
At the press conference, he said, “It was really cool to just come back against the Browns, I almost died last year right before the game against them.” Last year he briefly dropped out of the Las Vegas Raiders, his old team, clash against the Ohio side.
Air got into his blood circulation during a pre-game injection. As a result, Brown had to go to the hospital immediately and received treatment.
“As I was being laid out in the hallway, I was thinking about my kids. I also thought about never playing football again. It was scary, that was almost it with me. But once I recovered, I was fine,” says Brown, who was in hospital for three days.
The shot was a normal routine before every game, the offensive lineman said. “You prepare normally and then you almost go into cardiac arrest. That was crazy. “
Trent Brown: Full recovery took eight months
After the 28-year-old had already caught the Covid 19 virus shortly before, his body needed some time to regain its strength after the second incident: “It took me about eight months to really fully recover from it,” Brown says.
Although the O-lineman still played three games for the Raiders in the 2020 season, he was not fit for them. “I wasn’t really fit until the start of Patriots training camp.”
The Patriots open the 11th day of NFL play with an away game at the Atlanta Falcons on Friday night (German time). Then, fortunately, Brown will be fit again and able to play.
