NFL: Patrick Mahomes still not over losing to Cincinnati Bengals

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes admits he’s far from over the 27-24 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.

Munich/Kansas City – Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has admitted he is far from over the 27-24 loss in the AFC Championship Game to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mahomes says on the sidelines of the Pro Bowl that it will take at least another year for him to digest the painful defeat, as Lisa Salters of “ESPN” reports.

So he said, “I haven’t gotten over it yet. I don’t think I can until we’re in a Super Bowl again. I’m using the loss as motivation and to move forward.”

Despite missing out on the final game, Mahomes admitted it was an honour and an excellent end to the season for him to be at the Pro Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes: Balanced record in AFC Championship Games

In his four seasons as a starter, Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have appeared in the AFC Championship Game every year. Twice they have come away victorious and twice they have come away losers.

Against the Bengals, the Chiefs scored several touchdowns in the first half before scoring a meagre three points in the second half. During overtime, a pass from Mahomes to receiver Tyreek Hill turned into an interception, which led to the decisive Bengals field goal by kicker Evan McPherson.

The Bengals will face the LA Rams in the Super Bowl on the night of February 13-14.
