NFL: Overtime rule – teams submit wishes for rule changes to the league

For years, there have been discussions in the NFL about the existing overtime rules. Now three teams are taking the next step to get the NFL to rethink the rules.

Munich – The NFL’s “Overtime Rules” continue to cause discussions. At the latest since the Buffalo Bills were eliminated in the playoffs in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime without having the ball, many fans are hoping for a rule change.

That has now put some teams on notice, who have made requests for changes to the league. Both the Indianapolis Colts and the Philadelphia Eagles want both teams to get the ball at least once in overtime. Even if the first team should score a touchdown.

The Tennessee Titans are going in a similar direction. However, they want to stick to the old system, at least a little. If the first team scores a touchdown and then a two-point conversion, the game is over. Otherwise, the opposing team would get the ball and could win the game with a touchdown and a PAT.

Currently, the rule states that the game in overtime ends immediately on the first touchdown. The league will discuss possible rule changes at the end of March.
