NFL – New England Patriots: Rookie TreVeyon Henderson leads the “Pats” to victory against the New York Jets with three touchdowns

The New England Patriots celebrate their eighth consecutive victory in the NFL. Running back TreVeyon Henderson stands out in particular against the New York Jets.

Led by outstanding rookie TreVeyon Henderson, the New England Patriots have secured their eighth consecutive victory in the NFL. The running back scored three touchdowns in the Patriots’ 27-14 division win over the New York Jets – two on the ground and one through the air.

With his special performance, Henderson followed in big footsteps. The only other rookie to score three touchdowns in a regular season game for the Patriots was franchise legend Rob Gronkowski. For the second time in a row, the 23-year-old took full advantage of Rhamondre Stevenson’s absence.

The win puts New England on its longest winning streak since Tom Brady’s last season in 2019, when the Patriots won their first eight games. With a 9-2 record, quarterback Drake Maye’s team also takes the lead in the AFC from the Indianapolis Colts, who have their bye week this week. Maye himself dictated the game through the air, completing 25 of 34 passes for 281 yards. The touchdown to Henderson rounded off the picture. Stefon Diggs was the most notable receiver with 105 receiving yards. Despite the two rushing touchdowns, the Patriots’ running game was not a major factor overall, with New England gaining only 65 rushing yards as a team – 62 of them by Henderson.

Jets’ short winning streak ends

The Jets, on the other hand, were brought back down to earth after two consecutive wins. Quarterback Justin Fields played his part in both touchdowns. On the one hand, he ran into the end zone himself, and on the other, he set up wide receiver John Metchie for the touchdown.

In the absence of Garrett Wilson, however, the passing game was once again sluggish, with Fields gaining 116 passing yards. With 67 rushing yards, he was also his team’s best runner. Midway through the fourth quarter, Fields also fumbled near his own end zone, but the Patriots only punished him with a field goal.

New England continues in Week 12 with an away game at the Cincinnati Bengals. The Jets are guests at the Baltimore Ravens.
