Will Patriots quarterback Drake Maye get another target for the Championship Game? A return to training gives cause for hope.
Good news for the New England Patriots. The franchise may get a boost on offense in the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos. Wide receiver Mack Hollins was back on the practice field for the first time in over a month.
After the game against the Baltimore Ravens on December 21, the receiver was surprisingly placed on injured reserve with an abdominal injury.
During the regular season, this would have meant that Hollins would have missed at least four games and would not have been eligible to play again until the Super Bowl. However, due to different rules in the playoffs, he only had to sit out for four weeks and could return against the Broncos if he is cleared to play.
Hollins back in Patriots training
Hollins did not train on Wednesday, but on Thursday he took to the field with his teammates.
“We’ve always talked about getting Mack back. It’s been a long month. It would be great for us if he could come back,” fellow receiver Kayshon Boutte said before the session.
It is unclear to what extent the 32-year-old participated in training. Reporters are only allowed to observe the start of the sessions.
Hollins joined the Pats as a free agent last offseason and became a reliable target for quarterback Drake Maye.
