The New England Patriots celebrate a late comeback against the Baltimore Ravens and secure their ticket to the playoffs.
Late comeback for the New England Patriots – with a glorious outcome. The “Pats” secured a 28-24 victory in their away game against the Baltimore Ravens with two late touchdowns, securing their ticket to the NFL playoffs for the first time since 2021.
After two rushing touchdowns by running back Derrick Henry, an 18-yard pass from quarterback Lamar Jackson to wide receiver Zay Flowers, and a field goal, the Ravens led 24-13 with just under 13 minutes remaining.
But then the Patriots turned up the heat. First, playmaker Drake Maye completed a 37-yard touchdown pass to receiver Kyle Williams – including a successful two-point conversion. Then running back Rhamondre Stevenson ran 21 yards into the end zone. In the first half, a one-yard touchdown pass to tight end Hunter Henry and two field goals had provided the Patriots’ points.
Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson forced to leave the field injured
After the Denver Broncos, the Patriots are now the second team in the AFC to secure a spot in the playoffs.
For the Ravens, the defeat is a serious blow in the battle for the postseason. With two games remaining in the regular season, their playoff probability is now only 11 percent.
What made it particularly bitter was that while Maye put in a strong performance for the Patriots, throwing for 380 yards, the Ravens lost their star quarterback Lamar Jackson to a back injury in the second quarter. Backup Tyler Huntley had to come on for him, but with nine completed passes for 65 yards, he was hardly able to make an impact.
