NFL: Mahomes weak – Broncos break Chiefs curse – Purdy also disappointed

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy also proved to be very mistake-prone in their games. ran recaps the 10 p.m. games.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos 9:24

Patrick Mahomes had one of the weakest games of his career. The quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs remained without a touchdown pass, threw two interceptions. and fabricated another ball loss via fumble. Otherwise, he managed a modest 232 passing yards. Kansas City’s running game was also not a factor, gaining 62 yards of space.

With the Chiefs’ turnovers, the Broncos didn’t have to produce offensive fireworks to win the game. Quarterback Russell Wilson threw for only 114 yards, but did get three touchdown passes. In addition, the running game was much more effective than the Chiefs with 153 yards.

The Broncos thus win a game against the Kansas City Chiefs again after 16 (!) losses in a row.

Kansas City is now at a 6-2 record, Denver at 3-5 after two straight wins

Cleveland Browns @ Seattle Seahawks 20:24

The Seattle Seahawks went through a game of ups and downs against the Cleveland Browns. They first took a 14-0 lead, then gave that advantage away before finally tying the game with 38 seconds left on a Geno Smith touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Quarterback Geno Smith recorded 254 passing yards and two touchdown passes, but he also had two interceptions.

For the Cleveland Browns, injured quarterback Deshaun Watson was replaced by PJ Walker, who recorded 248 passing yards, one touchdown pass and two interceptions. The Seahawks now stand at a 5-2 record, while the Browns are 4-3.

Baltimore Ravens @ Arizona Cardinals 31:24

The game got exciting again at the end: the Cardinals got as close as seven points with 26 seconds left, but the ensuing onside kick failed, allowing the Ravens to run down the game clock. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson had a rather unremarkable game with 157 passing yards and one touchdown pass. Running back Gus Edwards, however, ran into the end zone three times.

In the end, the Cardinals tried two onside kicks. While the first one even succeeded, the second attempt failed and the Ravens were able to kneel down.

Cardinals quarterback Joshua Dobbs, filling in for the injured Kyler Murray for possibly the last time, totaled 208 passing yards, two touchdown passes and two interceptions. The Ravens stand at a 6-2 record, while the Cardinals are 1-7.

Cincinnati Bengals @ San Francisco 49ers 31:17

This is a game Brock Purdy will want to forget real quick. The quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers had a very bad day and lost three balls (2 interceptions, 1 fumble).

Curious: The two interceptions happened in two consecutive offensive plays of the 49ers. Another interception by Purdy was disallowed because of a violation of the rules by the defense. Otherwise, he threw for 324 yards and a touchdown.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, meanwhile, turned in a nearly flawless game with 283 passing yards, three touchdown passes and no turnovers. Ja’Marr Chase caught passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.

The Bengals are now at a 4-3 record. The 49ers are increasingly in a slump, having lost three straight games and stand at a 5-3 record.
