NFL – Las Vegas Raiders: Possible entry of Tom Brady becomes a never-ending story

Tom Brady would like to join the Las Vegas Raiders, the deal has been in place since May 2023. However, approval from the other teams is still a long time coming.

Tom Brady and the Las Vegas Raiders: The quarterback superstar’s move is becoming a never-ending story.

Without a happy ending?

At least there is still no end to the story, because as the Washington Post reports, there is still no vote among the team owners.

And probably not at the upcoming meeting, the “Annual League Meeting”, in Orlando, “unless there is a last-minute change”, according to the Post. 24 of the 32 teams would have to agree.

Brady entry: Apparently two obstacles

Finances and a possible conflict of interest are causing the delays. “Owners on the NFL’s finance committee had previously raised questions about the economics of the proposed deal,” the Post reports. “In addition, some owners have concerns about conflicts of interest stemming from Brady holding a stake in the Raiders while also serving as an analyst on broadcasts of NFL games for Fox, according to one of the people familiar with the deliberations and two others familiar with the owners’ views.”

One source told the Post that owners of other teams may be “reluctant” to let Brady into their practice facilities in preparation for his broadcasts.

Sportico, a portal specializing in sports finance, had recently reported that the group around Brady wanted to take over about ten percent of the Raiders, of which the seven-time Super Bowl champion would then own seven percent.

The owner of the Las Vegas Raiders is Mark Davis, an old acquaintance of Brady’s: the entrepreneur, who brought the team from Oakland to the gambling city, also owns the Las Vegas Aces, champion in the WNBA women’s basketball league, where Brady is already a minority owner.

Brady agreed to purchase the shares in May 2023, ten months ago. Since then, approval from the other teams had been repeatedly delayed
