The Las Vegas Raiders are in the throes of an athletic crisis. Despite the bye week in week ten, there was a huge blow to the franchise at the beginning of the week.
The mood at the Las Vegas Raiders is currently at an all-time low – and the bye week in week ten won’t change that.
After five straight losses, nerves are on edge within the franchise, and the playoff dreams are effectively over with a record of 2-7. And the first personnel consequences should follow shortly.
Head Coach Antonio Pierce fired three offensive coaches after the 24-41 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals the previous week. Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy, Offensive Line Coach James Cregg and Quarterbacks Coach Rich Scangarello were all relieved of their duties after Sunday’s game.
And that’s not all. The team continued to address the team’s recent struggles earlier this week. As reported by “CBS Sports,” several Raiders players, including team captain Maxx Crosby, spoke openly at a player and staff meeting on Monday about the inadequacies and deficits they feel are occurring week after week in the organization.
At the aforementioned meeting between the players and the staff, everyone was reportedly able to express their opinions openly. According to those present, a few topics that were particularly important to those involved apparently emerged.
The players apparently criticized the schedule for being inefficient, saying that it lacked organization, was a “waste of time,” and that there was a “lack of discipline and accountability.”
An anonymous source also told “CBS” that the meeting ended “unpleasantly for all parties.” However, all parties involved hope that the talks will lead to positive changes for the Raiders in the second half of the season.
