NFL: Las Vegas Raiders hold on to Maxx Crosby – trade cancellation by email

Before the trade deadline, rumors of departures continue to spread. But Mark Davis has had enough of one of his stars. The owner of the Las Vegas Raiders is putting a stop to a trade in a curious way.

The NFL teams are allowed to trade among themselves until November 5. Only then will the trade deadline be reached. Accordingly, a multitude of rumors are spreading throughout the league cosmos. This also applies to Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby.

The defensive end is being linked to a move to the Detroit Lions, among others. Much to the annoyance of Raiders owner Mark Davis. Logically, the 69-year-old has a strong interest in Crosby staying. After all, he is one of the absolute key players in his defense. He is also a role model in Vegas.

A trade is therefore out of the question. Davis also thinks so and makes this known in a curious way. “We will not trade Maxx Crosby. Before or after the trade deadline!!!” he wrote in an email to “ESPN”. Although Crosby’s departure was discussed internally, it was only briefly and with a clear result.

Joy pre-programmed

While the owner’s clear words are likely to cause disillusionment in the offices of several NFL teams, the Raiders are expected to be very happy. For one thing, new part-owner of the team Richard Seymour said in the Adam Schefter Podcast just recently that he couldn’t imagine the Raiders giving away the “heartbeat of our team”.

In addition to the fans, Crosby is also likely to welcome the clarity. In his podcast “The Rush with Maxx Crosby,” he already cleared up some transfer rumors and emphasized that he definitely wants to remain a Raider. However, he also said that he cannot control events 100 percent and that he cannot rule out anything in the NFL business.

So Mark Davis did it for him. Crosby was selected by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 2019 draft. In his very first season, he recorded ten sacks and gradually earned a key role on the defense. In his six years in the NFL, he has already recorded 344 tackles, nine forced fumbles and 58.5 sacks.
