The Kansas City Chiefs are 3-0 and Travis Kelce is beside himself. An expert is therefore not sparing with criticism and is verbally attacking him.
In terms of sports, everything is going according to plan for the Kansas City Chiefs. The record is 3-0 before Week 4 of the NFL. However, the reigning Super Bowl champion has a problem child in his own ranks: Travis Kelce.
The tight end has 69 yards and no touchdowns. Nevertheless, he is making headlines because there are several theories as to why the 34-year-old is underperforming. One of them: his alleged breakup with pop star Taylor Swift on September 28.
Former ESPN analyst Todd McShay has another theory, and a pretty clear one at that.
“Every show I’ve watched in the last few weeks, I thought, ‘Aren’t you allowed to say that he’s not in shape?’” McShay said on the Ryen Russillo podcast. ”That he’s been partying all offseason? That he’s jetting around the world with probably the most famous person in the world, that he’s drinking, going to the U.S. Open, that he’s drinking cocktails.”
In fact, Kelce was repeatedly photographed spending his free time with girlfriend Swift. For example, he was also at the pop singer’s tour at concerts in the Schalke Arena.
Kelce himself is trying to stay cool in all the fuss.
“That’s football. I’m not going to sit here and get upset about it,” he said. ”I used to get really pissed off and often almost lose my nerve because I wasn’t as successful, because I know I demand that of myself. I just like playing the game at such a high level that I have a hard time dealing with mediocrity.”
McShay, on the other hand, would love to put a photo from the 2022 preseason and a photo from the 2024 preseason side by side. “They’re hardly the same people,” McShay said. “And everyone’s like, ‘We gotta give him the ball. Why isn’t he part of the offense? Defense is doubling him.’ The thing is, The key thing with Kelce is that he’s getting the same coverage and the same respect – he’s just not in the same shape. He’s not the same guy. I’m not seeing the same explosiveness. I’m seeing him slough off a little bit in the game.”
