Patrick Mahomes kept his word: the quarterback superstar promised his wife the top seed – for a sweet reason.

Now the baby can come! Because Papa Mahomes kept his word.

“I told my wife that I would get her the top seed so that we could have the baby,” he said on Netflix.

With a 29-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day, the Kansas City Chiefs secured not only the division title but also the top seed in the AFC.

From a sporting point of view, this means that the team has a bye week at the start of the postseason and also home field advantage until the Super Bowl.

From a personal point of view, it means that the couple can breathe a sigh of relief, because Brittany Mahomes is heavily pregnant, and, as the quarterback revealed, the couple’s third child could arrive any day. They already have daughter Sterling (3) and son Bronze (2).

Since the Chiefs don’t have to play again until the Divisional Round on January 18/19, Brittany and Patrick can focus on the birth.

Mahomes could also take a break in the last game of the regular season in Week 18 at the Denver Broncos, as the Chiefs have nothing left to play for. Such games are often used to rest the top stars.

“Hopefully God works in the right way and we can maybe have the baby sometime during the bye week, then everything will go perfectly,” he said.

Speaking of going perfectly: Kansas City is aiming to win the Super Bowl for the third time in a row this season. The last time the Chiefs held the top seed in the conference, Kansas City went on to win Super Bowl LVII against the Philadelphia Eagles.
