The Kansas City Chiefs are celebrating their next victory at the end of the fifth NFL match day. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Saints are suffering two setbacks.
The Kansas City Chiefs continue to perform well on their mission to defend the NFL title. The Super Bowl champions also won their fifth game of the season, beating the New Orleans Saints 26-13.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 331 yards but did not score a touchdown. Kareem Hunt scored points for the hosts. The running back, who returned to the franchise, had a successful evening, running for 102 yards and a touchdown.
In addition, rookie receiver Xavier Worthy found himself in the end zone after a 3-yard rush. Kicker Harrison Butker was responsible for the remaining points with four field goals.
Meanwhile, tight end Travis Kelce was once again able to convince. Under the watchful eye of superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift, he made nine catches for 70 yards. The 35-year-old was part of a special play. On a second down and facing a huge 34-yard deficit, he was hit by Mahomes over the middle and then passed the ball on to a teammate, as he has done in the past.
The lateral pass found Samaje Perine, who subsequently came within one yard of a new first down. The drive ultimately resulted in a field goal.
The New Orleans Saints, meanwhile, had no reason to celebrate. Quarterback Derek Carr completed 185 yards and two touchdowns – a 43-yard pass to Rashid Shaheed, plus a 6-yard pass to Foster Moreau – but he also had to accept a pick. With a good nine minutes left in the game in the fourth quarter, he had to leave the field with a torso injury.
Besides the Chiefs, only the Minnesota Vikings are still undefeated this season. The Chiefs are aiming for a “three-peat”: Kansas City can become the first team to win the NFL title three times in a row. Meanwhile, the Saints have conceded their third defeat in a row and now have a record of 2-3.
