Joe Burrow makes no secret of the Bengals’ ambitions. After what he considers a successful offseason, the star quarterback believes his team is in better shape than it has been in a long time—and speaks openly about the ultimate goal: the Super Bowl.

Joe Burrow is looking forward to the upcoming NFL season with high expectations. At the conclusion of minicamp, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback made it clear that, for him, only one goal matters: a return to the Super Bowl.

Since reaching the Super Bowl in the 2021 season, not everything has gone according to plan for the Bengals. Injuries, defensive weaknesses, and missed playoff opportunities have repeatedly held the team back. Following what Burrow considers a successful roster overhaul, that is now set to change.

“This year, we feel a tremendous sense of determination within the team; we definitely have a different focus,” said Burrow. “We have everything we need. We have depth at nearly every position on the team. We’ve talked about this in the locker room this year—in past years, people wondered who would make the team. The top of the roster was very strong; people tended to worry more about the players at the bottom. This year, the players who used to be at that top level are, of course, secure on the team, but there’s a lot of competition for spots 53, 54, and 55 at the end of the roster. In my opinion, this is the first year that’s really been the case. It’s a great position to be in when you have too many good players.”

The Bengals bolstered their defense in particular during the offseason, signing players including Demarcus Lawrence, Boye Mafe, Jonathan Allen, Bryan Cook, and rookie Cashius Howell.

Burrow is heading into the new season with that same confidence.

“We go into every game expecting to win it the moment we step on the field,” said the star quarterback. “Of course you want to win the Super Bowl, and that’s exactly the plan. But you have to take it day by day and week by week. I’m looking forward to this journey.”

If Burrow stays healthy, many experts consider the Bengals to be among the most promising contenders in the AFC.
