NFL – Jacksonville Jaguars: Travis Hunter gets married and surprises his bride with a luxury gift

The Jaguars’ top pick marries his childhood sweetheart in an elaborate ceremony. While fans of the two-way player are not entirely convinced by the bride, Hunter’s father is granted special leave from prison for the wedding.

Things are really going well for Travis Hunter right now. The 22-year-old was selected second overall in this year’s draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and this weekend he married his high school sweetheart, Leanna De La Fuente.

The couple tied the knot on Saturday at a luxurious wedding venue romantically located between Knoxville and Chattanooga in Tennessee.

Hunter, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2024, surprised his bride with a black Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 Brabus 800, which is estimated to have cost around 200,000 euros.

The two wedding dresses worn by the bride were also likely to have been quite expensive. They were custom-made for De La Fuente by New York designer Justin Alexander.

The Jaguars see Travis Hunter as a key player for the future

However, there is no need to worry about the bride and groom’s financial situation. Hunter will easily be able to afford the celebration, even if he has not yet signed his rookie contract.

It is assumed that the Jaguars will offer him a contract worth a total of $46.65 million, with the signing bonus alone estimated at $30.6 million.

The Jags see Hunter as one of their key players for the future and traded high to draft him second overall. Hunter played wide receiver and cornerback in college, and the Florida franchise wants to use him on both offense and defense in the NFL.

Hunter played so convincingly as a two-way player for the Colorado Buffaloes that he was awarded the Heisman Trophy as the best college player after last season.

Travis Hunter Sr. allowed to attend wedding despite prison sentence

However, Leanna De La Fuente drew the ire of fans during the Heisman Trophy ceremony. When her future husband was announced as the winner, both his coach Deion Sanders and Hunter’s mother jumped up in excitement, while De La Fuente remained seated with a disgruntled look on her face.

The two had argued in public on several occasions, which is why not all Travis Hunter fans are convinced about De La Fuente. However, the wedding should now dispel any doubts about their love.

Hunter’s father, Travis Hunter Sr., who was sentenced to prison in 2023 for weapons and drug possession, was absent from the Heisman Trophy ceremony.

However, a judge granted special permission for Hunter Sr. to attend the wedding.
