NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars introduce Liam Coen as head coach

The next head coaching decision in the NFL has been made. Liam Coen is joining the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Liam Coen is the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. What has been speculated about in the past few days was officially confirmed by the franchise on Friday evening.

“I am determined to build a winning team here in Jacksonville. I am also a man of action and not words,“ Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a Jacksonville press release.

”That’s why I hired Liam Coen. I’m glad that Liam has accepted this challenge.”

Most recently, the 39-year-old was the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who would have liked to have kept him.

After Coen initially seemed out of the running for the job, the situation changed abruptly when the Jaguars fired general manager Trent Baalke and approached him with a new offer.

Coen will succeed Pederson

He stopped responding to the Bucs, who wanted to make him one of the highest-paid coordinators in the league, and instead went to the Jaguars. It was only after he had signed his contract there that he informed Tampa of his decision.

Coen succeeds Doug Pederson in Jacksonville, who coached the Jaguars from 2022 until the end of the previous regular season.
