In 2023, the Indianapolis Colts drafted a quarterback fourth overall who would become the new face of the franchise. Three years later, he has now requested a trade.

Quarterback Anthony Richardson was drafted fourth overall by the Colts in 2023. Since then, however, he has never been able to make a lasting impression in Indianapolis and only made a brief appearance in one game last season.

The 23-year-old’s time in Indianapolis could now be coming to an end.

According to Chris Ballard, the Colts’ general manager, Richardson and cornerback Kenny Moore II were not on site on the first day of offseason workouts. The reason, he said, was that both players requested a trade.

Indianapolis Colts: No more room for Richardson

The Colts’ quarterback situation appears to be settled for next year: Daniel Jones will return from injury as the starter and Riley Leonard will be his backup. As a result, there is no more room for Richardson.

According to reports, the Colts have been trying to transfer the 23-year-old for some time, but no franchise has shown any interest in the former first-round pick.

Since his rookie season in 2023, Richardson’s pass rate of 50.6% has spoken volumes, and the rest of his numbers aren’t great either: 11 touchdowns with 13 interceptions, 12 fumbles and a meager passer rating of 67.8 in 17 games for Indianapolis.
