The Denver Broncos are officially up for sale and are expected to change hands this year for a record sum.
Cologne – The Denver Broncos are officially for sale. The franchise is expected to change hands for a record sum before the end of the year. A deal is planned to be completed before the start of the new season, with the franchise estimated to be worth a good four billion dollars.
The highest sum in North American professional sport to date was put on the table by businessman Steve Cohen, who bought the New York Mets from Major League Baseball (MLB) for 2.4 billion dollars in 2020. The highest price in the NFL was achieved in 2018 when the Carolina Panthers were sold, David Tepper paid 2.275 billion.
Is a buyer’s group striking?
The late Pat Bowlen, who died in 2019, had taken over the Broncos in 1984. The Pat Bowlen Trust is handling the sale. Some time ago, Hall-of-Famer John Elway and Peyton Manning, former Broncos quarterbacks, had shown loose interest in being part of a group of buyers.
Denver, three-time Super Bowl champions, have not made the play-offs since the 2015/16 season.
