Nobody believes in Deshaun Watson anymore. Except Deshaun Watson. The Browns quarterback is back with a big comeback announcement.
The Cleveland Browns’ experiment with quarterback Deshaun Watson is considered a failure.
After a long period of silence around the former NFL star, he is now realizing that his career is likely to come to a definitive end. The Browns have already brought in Kenny Pickett as a replacement in the offseason. Another QB signing in the draft is on the cards, if not even more money being spent on a Kirk Cousins.
Watson is making too many negative headlines, costing too much money, is too prone to injury and is not delivering enough sporting success and returns. Watson is one of the biggest failures in NFL history.
But he doesn’t want to hear about it. He is currently recovering from a serious Achilles tendon injury and has previously had surgery on his throwing arm at the shoulder. Now the 29-year-old is fighting.
Watson will probably not be able to play an NFL game in 2025 due to his injury. Let alone whether the Browns still want that. At least owner Jimmy Haslam himself said, “We went for it big time with Watson and then missed the target.”
Watson has now posted an Instagram video in which he is training in Browns gear. In doing so, he hints at his comeback, saying he “doesn’t have much to lose anyway”.
He continues: “Everyone doubts me. No one believes in me. Everyone thinks I can’t get back to where I used to be. But I know different. I believe in the work I’m putting in here, I believe in myself… I know I’ll be better than I was before.”
In three seasons, Watson has made 19 appearances. Otherwise, he was injured or suspended. In the games, he appeared drowsy, lethargic, inaccurate and made poor decisions. Everything he was in Houston had disappeared. Since 2020, he has missed 66 of 85 possible games.
If his plan succeeds even to some extent, he will probably be named comeback player of the year.
