NFL: Aaron Rodgers names two conditions for his new team – is only one option left?

Aaron Rodgers’ future remains unclear. If he continues his career, he has formulated two conditions for a possible new team.

What is the future for Aaron Rodgers in the NFL? One thing is clear: the star quarterback no longer has a future with the New York Jets, as the new regime around head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey no longer plan with him.

Jets announce split from Rodgers

Given his advanced age of 41, a career end would not be a surprise. He has not yet made a decision. However, if he continues, it will not be at any price.

The four-time MVP and one-time Super Bowl winner with the Green Bay Packers has now told TMZ that two conditions must be met for him to continue.

“If they want you,” he said. And secondly: ‘If they have a good team.’ With just a few words, he has dismissed several options.

Rodgers would like to play for a team that is at least in reach of the playoffs. And he is apparently not interested in being a stopgap or sitting on the bench as a backup. That doesn’t leave many teams.

Will Rodgers only go to Pittsburgh?

In recent weeks, two teams in particular have been mentioned for the signal caller – the Las Vegas Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Raiders didn’t have a quarterback of note last season, while both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields will be free agents with the Steelers.

In Las Vegas, Rodgers would meet a prominent new coaching staff with Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, but the quality of the roster is limited. It’s not a “good team”.

The Steelers remain, who have a significantly better team. Rodgers could play for the playoffs here and possibly mentor a young quarterback that the Steelers pick in the second or third round of the draft.

There are currently no other teams in the NFL that have a good quality roster but no starting quarterback. It is possible that his comments were therefore to be understood as an indirect application to Mike Tomlin and Co.

What happens next with Rodgers is likely to be one of the most exciting storylines of the upcoming free agency. There may even be a surprise that nobody is currently expecting.
