Aaron Rodgers wants to continue his career in the NFL and is rumored to have offered himself to the New York Giants
The New York Giants are looking for an experienced quarterback this offseason. One possible candidate could be Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers still wants to play after being released by the New York Jets. According to Giantswire, there are rumors that he has contacted the Giants about their open starting quarterback position.
The 41-year-old Rodgers will officially be a free agent on March 12. Interest in his services is apparently limited. He was rumored to be a fit with the Pittsburgh Steelers and possibly the Los Angeles Rams if the latter parted ways with Matthew Stafford.
Rodgers would love to play for a Super Bowl contender. But he might have to settle for a team like the New York Giants for the time being because the top teams have no need or don’t want Rodgers on their team. At least he wouldn’t have to move if he switched from the Jets to the Giants.
But do the Giants even want to sign Rodgers? It’s not completely out of the question.
Aaron Rodgers? Giants need two quarterbacks
On Tuesday at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Giants general manager Joe Schoen spoke about the desire to have both a veteran and a young quarterback on the team this year.
“We’ll look at all options,” he said. “It’s the most important position in football. We have to look at free agency, trades, drafts and whatever, and we have to play better off of it.”
Even though the Jets’ 2024 season was disappointing, Rodgers’ statistics are fine. He completed 63 percent of his passes for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns, and threw 11 interceptions. So he could well help a team like the Giants.
