NFL: Aaron Rodgers facing the end of his career? What former coach Mike Tomlin says

In his first interview since leaving the Steelers, Mike Tomlin talks about his reasons for this decision. He also ventures a guess as to the future of Aaron Rodgers.

Whether Aaron Rodgers will continue his career in the NFL is one of the most exciting topics this offseason.

While the 42-year-old himself has not yet decided on his future, his former coach Mike Tomlin is certain that Rodgers will continue for a 22nd season in the NFL.

“Having known him for 12 months now, I know he has a real passion for football,” Tomlin, who left the Pittsburgh Steelers after 19 years, said in an interview with NBC.

Tomlin on Rodgers: “Believe he will continue to play”

Rodgers’ passion is not just for the game itself, but also for developing younger players and interacting with teammates, Tomlin continued, adding: “I think he’s addicted to it, and there’s only one way to feed that addiction. Of course, he’s still in good shape. That’s why I think he’ll eventually keep playing.”

Tomlin also spoke about the reasons behind his decision in his first interview since leaving the Steelers. “It’s not a decision you make overnight,” said the 54-year-old. “I just thought it was the right time for me personally. By that I mean my current life situation. And to be completely honest, I thought it was the right time for the organization as well. We haven’t had a lot of success in the playoffs in recent years.”

Under Tomlin, the Steelers never once recorded a negative record in the regular season. However, the team then regularly faltered in the playoffs. They haven’t won in the postseason since 2016 and their last Super Bowl appearance was more than 15 years ago.
