NFL – Aaron Rodgers at the Pittsburgh Steelers: Ben Roethlisberger is skeptical

Aaron Rodgers will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025. Franchise legend Ben Roethlisberger believes it will be a very short era.

Aaron Rodgers has big plans with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team and superstar quarterback are getting to know each other better during preseason, especially during training camp in July.

Then they will hit the ground running together in the NFL regular season. The risk for the Steelers is manageable: the playmaker has signed a one-year contract with the franchise.

According to Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger, the Rodgers era in Pittsburgh is likely to be over by then.

Rodgers will turn 42 on December 2.

“I don’t think he has much left in the tank after this year,” Roethlisberger said on his podcast “Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger.” “I think this could be his last year.”

When asked how he knew, he said, “I don’t know. It’s just a feeling when you come back from a torn Achilles tendon. When I came back from my elbow injury, I felt like I was 100 percent in the first year. But I wasn’t. You often don’t realize that until the following year, when you’re really back to 100.”

In 2023, Rodgers tore his Achilles tendon after just four snaps following his move from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets. He returned to the field in 2024 and played all 17 games. The season ended disappointingly with a 5-12 record and his departure.

“He’ll feel better, no question,” Roethlisberger continued. “But that doesn’t automatically mean he’ll play for another two or three years. I think this could be his last shot.”
