The knee surgery on Jets quarterback Zach Wilson went well. However, he will likely miss the season opener against the Baltimore Ravens
Munich – The good news for the News York Jets: Zach Wilson’s surgery went well. Fortunately, there is no longer any talk of a month-long layoff or an early end to the season, but instead Wilson will now have to take a break of four to six weeks, as “The Athletic” writes.
The quarterback suffered a broken bone and torn meniscus in his right knee in the preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. At least the surgery did not reveal any damage to the ligaments. But the season opener is still a long way off.
New York Jets on 11 September against the Baltimore Ravens
NFL insider Ian Rapoport points to the break from practice Wilson must now take and that the Jets won’t put their playmaker on the field until he’s 100 percent. The Jets’ first game is against the Baltimore Ravens on September 11.
With Jimmy Garoppolo available from the 49ers, the Jets don’t appear intent on making a move. They have confidence in Joe Flacco in the likely scenario where he starts until Zach Wilson is 100% ready. https://t.co/qplSF1iNFm

The franchise has replacements on the roster, though, with veteran Joe Flacco ready to fill in for Wilson against the team he played for and won the Super Bowl with from 2008 to 2018. And the Jets are banking on the 37-year-old because, as Rapoport further reports, the Jets have no plans to sign Jimmy Garoppolo, who is on the market.
Who continues to look for a new team because the San Francisco 49ers will be going after Trey Lance in 2022.
