At a press conference, new New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers reflected on his early days with his new employer. He had words of praise for one receiver in particular.
The New York Jets completed their final practice session before the start of training camp on Friday. Afterwards, quarterback Aaron Rodgers was positive about the developments of the past few weeks.
“I think we’re in a good spot. Now it’s a matter of clearing our heads a little bit and then getting into offseason training,” the four-time NFL MVP said. He said he himself will be heading to the West Coast to continue his training and is enjoying the new work environment.
“In the past six weeks, I’ve had more fun than I’ve had in a long time. I enjoy getting together with the guys and pulling together,” said the 39-year-old.
Aaron Rodgers: special praise for Garrett Wilson
Wide receiver Garrett Wilson in particular left a positive impression on the former Packers quarterback. Last year’s Rookie of the Year award winner amassed 1,103 receiving yards and four touchdowns in his first NFL season.
“I love Garrett. Great, great player. He’s got the talent and the skills to take over the NFL world. I like watching him and spending time with him,” Rodgers praised.
Rodgers’ additional mentoring role for the Jets players is evident in his relationship with backup Zach Wilson. The second pick in the 2020 NFL Draft is “very inquisitive” and constantly looking for ways to improve, he said.
