Ex-Patriots pro Jakob Johnson is emphatically reserved after his move to the Las Vegas Raiders. The German fullback has modest goals for his new NFL adventure.
Stuttgart – German professional footballer Jakob Johnson is emphatically cautious after his move to NFL title contender Las Vegas Raiders.
“My goal is the same as every year: to make the squad, find a way to help the team and get better,” the fullback said Sunday at a training camp in his native Stuttgart.
Johnson is venturing from the New England Patriots to player’s paradise for the new season, where the Raiders are looking to build a Super Bowl team. “I’ve only been there to sign my contract so far. But the Raiders fanbase is definitely very passionate,” the 27-year-old said.
Time in the National Football League is finite and can be over quickly, and Johnson knows that. “I definitely want to continue to have something to do with football and try to grow the sport in Germany. Even if my playing career ends at some point,” he said.
On Friday, the self-confessed VfB supporter had watched his club’s 2-0 defeat against Borussia Dortmund live in the stadium.
