The New England Patriots look set to release Brian Hoyer before the start of Free Agency. According to a report, the franchise is banking on a younger duo.

Out for Brian Hoyer with the New England Patriots: “ESPN” reports that the franchise has reportedly told the 37-year-old it wants to release him before Free Agency begins in mid-March.

With Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe, the Patriots own two quarterbacks and could still sign other alternatives.

Hoyer has struggled with multiple injuries in 2022. His contract actually has one year remaining and includes $1.4 million in guaranteed salary for the 2023 season.

He has played eight seasons in three stints with the Patriots so far, appearing in 31 games – including two as a starter – and returning two touchdown passes with two interceptions.
