New England Patriots: Mac Jones – “There was a lack of energy in practice”

The New England Patriots’ loss to the Indianapolis Colts was apparently foreshadowed. Quarterback Mac Jones noted that there was a lack of energy in practice.

Munich – As a quarterback, you go forward. Not only on the field, but also off it. And not only when things are going well, but also when things are going wrong.

Like the New England Patriots in their 17:27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. For the Pats it was the first defeat after seven wins in a row. A somewhat rough landing after an interim flight of fancy.

Jones also takes the blame for the defeat, he had 299 yards and two touchdowns against the Colts, but also threw two interceptions.

Not finding the rhythm

However, his criticism is not only about the game, but also about the preparation. “It starts for me during the week. We didn’t train well every day,” Jones revealed.

Energy was low, Jones said, “maybe we felt a little sorry for ourselves because we just came out of the break.” The Patriots – like the Colts – had a bye week recently and clearly had trouble getting back into rhythm. The rookie quarterback didn’t want to go into detail.

“We just didn’t practice well, and that’s reflected in how we played. And I didn’t practice well, and I know a lot of guys on our team felt the same way,” said Jones, who noted that despite the loss, it was just one game in the end. “It’s not the end of the world. They played great but we also shot ourselves in the foot. So we just have to move on.”

The Patriots now stand at a 9-5 record and will retain first place in the AFC East despite the loss. Next up for the Patriots is on Boxing Day against the Buffalo Bills. Then come the Jacksonville Jaguars, and to close the regular season Jones and Co. have to go to the Miami Dolphins.
