Christian Barmore was hospitalized at the weekend due to a blood clot. It remains to be seen when the New England Patriots defensive tackle will be able to play football again.
The New England Patriots defensive tackle was hospitalized on Sunday, the day of his 25th birthday, with a blood clot.
The Patriots did not provide further details on the illness, but the situation is apparently serious.

“Christian Barmore was diagnosed with a blood clot at the weekend. He was treated, tested and examined by the doctors at Mass General Brigham,” the Patriots wrote in a statement on “X” (formerly Twitter).
“Our primary concern at this time is Christian’s health and well-being. Fortunately, Mass General Brigham offers some of the best medical treatment in the world. While there is currently no timetable for his return, we know that Christian is receiving excellent care and we look forward to his full recovery,” the statement continued.
Barmore only signed a mega-contract in April
A tweet from player agent Nicole Lynn illustrates just how serious the situation was.
“I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Patriots coach Jim Whalen for his absolute diligence and care over the past few days. Without Jim’s perseverance and expertise, today could have been very different,” Lynn wrote, sharing the Patriots’ post.
Barmore was selected by the Patriots in the second round of the 2021 draft and immediately became an important part of the defensive line.
He only signed a four-year contract worth over 92 million dollars in April.
I would be remiss if I did not thank the Patriots’ trainer, Jim Whalen, for his absolute diligence and care over the last couple of days. Today could have looked a lot different without Jim’s persistent and expertise. https://t.co/Al6r2PDdpr
