An era is coming to an end, successful coach Bill Belichick will probably have to leave the New England Patriots from the National Football League (NFL) at the end of the season after 23 years and six Super Bowl triumphs. This is reported by NBC. The decision was made weeks ago.
The Patriots are having an utterly disappointing season, and since last weekend it has also been mathematically clear that a play-off appearance is no longer possible for the team from Foxborough. This is the earliest the franchise has failed since the 2000/01 season, with three wins and ten defeats.
According to NBC, it was the German game in Frankfurt that tipped the scales; in the 6:10 against the Indianapolis Colts in November, hardly anything came together. Due to Belichick’s great merits, it was ruled out that the club would draw a line in the sand during the season. However, team owner Robert Kraft now wants a fresh start for the next season.
The Patriots won the title with Belichick and star quarterback Tom Brady in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Brady left the club in 2020.
