Los Angeles Chargers fire head coach Brandon Staley and general manager

Team owner Dean Spanos reacts to the debacle in Las Vegas and parts ways with head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco.

One day after the 21:63 debacle at the Las Vegas Raiders, the Los Angels Chargers have reacted and fired Head Coach Brandon Staley.

General Manager Tom Telesco also has to take his hat off. “It’s never easy to make a decision like this,” wrote team owner Dean Spanos in a press release.

“We are definitely not at the point where we want to be. And just for the sake of continuity, we weren’t prepared to do nothing.”

Spanos has not yet decided who will take over until the end of the season. However, a solution is to be presented “shortly”.

Staley took over the Chargers before 2021 and had a record of 24 wins and 24 defeats in 48 regular season games

Slump in the playoffs against the Jaguars

In the preseason, he led L.A. to the playoffs, but failed to make the Wild Card playoffs against the Jacksonville Jaguars after a complete collapse at the end of the game.

This season, the Chargers are 5-9 and will finish the season with a negative record. Playoff participation is only mathematically possible
