The Los Angeles Chargers are moving into position in the play-off race. Thanks to a win against the Miami Dolphins, quarterback Justin Herbert’s team is currently clinching a spot in the postseason
Munich – Quarterback Justin Herbert’s Los Angeles Chargers kept their chances of making the playoffs alive with a win over the Miami Dolphins. At home in SoFi Stadium, the Chargers ended up with a 23-17 victory on the scoreboard.
Playmaker Herbert had a strong day, completing 39 of his 51 pass attempts for 367 yards and a touchdown to Mike Williams. Meanwhile, besides a one-yard rushing touchdown from Austin Ekeler, it was kicker Cameron Dicker who provided the points for the hosts.
On the other side, signal caller Tua Tagovailoa was largely sidelined. The Dolphins quarterback did not make any major mistakes, but with only ten passes for 145 yards he did not make any impact either.
Tyreek Hill succeeds in fumble return touchdown
By far the most exciting play occurred midway through the second quarter when Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson lost a fumble, which in turn fell at the feet of teammate Tyreek Hill. The wide receiver ignited the turbo and put a 57-yard fumble return touchdown on the scoreboard. A short time later he scored six more points after a 60-yard pass from Tagovailoa.
With the win, the Chargers move up two spots in the AFC playoff race. Thanks to a 7-6 record, they are currently in the postseason – in the seventh and final Wild Card spot. The Dolphins are one spot ahead with eight wins and five losses. The second defeat in a row is not a positive sign for Miami, however.
