The Las Vegas Raiders donate a million-dollar sum to improve school safety measures in the wake of the rampage at a school in Uvalde, Texas.
Munich – At the end of May, 19 children and two teachers were shot dead by an 18-year-old in a rampage at a school in Uvalde in the US state of Texas.
In the wake of this renewed massacre at a US school, the Las Vegas Raiders have decided to work to improve security measures.
Talk with McElroy prompted Raiders owner Davis to donate millions
Thus, the Raiders are donating one million US dollars to the cause. According to the Uvalde Leader-News, the donation will be used to install additional surveillance cameras, specially secured doors and an impassable fence around the outside of the schools.
According to Raiders owner Mark Davis, a conversation with former player Vann McElroy was the deciding factor for the donation. McElroy lives in Uvalde, where this devastating massacre at a school last occurred.
This conversation between Davis and McElroy now prompted the billionaire to make this gesture in the form of a generous donation. “Two weeks ago I had a conversation with Vann. He told me what his hometown was going through after the rampage,” Davis explained.
Davis already presented the check to the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District via Zoom call. “We’re proud to be part of something that helps keep kids in these schools safer,” said the Raiders owner.
