For exactly two years Maxx Crosby has been dry. To celebrate, the Las Vegas Raiders have given him a new contract – worth almost 100 million dollars.
Munich – It’s a deal with symbolic power.
Maxx Crosby has received a new contract from the Las Vegas Raiders. And the franchise is paying for it. The defensive end will receive 98.98 million dollars for four years, as NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports. Of that, $53 million is guaranteed. The team has not officially confirmed the numbers, but has confirmed the new contract.
A real Raider
“Maxx Crosby embodies the characteristics of a Raider,” said Head Coach Josh McDaniels. “His work ethic and leadership qualities are second to none and we are thrilled that he will continue to be an important part of this organization for years to come. It’s an exciting day for Maxx and for Raider Nation.”
The symbolism is not just an athletic one, as the 24-year-old is one of the best edge rushers in the league. What’s more, he signed the new employment contract exactly two years after voluntarily entering a rehab clinic for a month.
At the time, he had admitted that alcoholism was a problem in his family that he was also struggling with. 11 March 2020 was the day he got sober.
Crosby was selected in the fourth round by the Raiders in 2019 and is coming off 141 tackles, 25 sacks, 12 passes defended and four forced fumbles in his three seasons in the NFL. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2021.
