Las Vegas Raiders: Davante Adams rails against the front office

In an interview, wide receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders is critical of the front office. The Pro Bowler questions the athletic direction the team has taken.

The Las Vegas Raiders ushered in a shakeup on offense this offseason. Longtime quarterback Derek Carr was fired and joined the New Orleans Saints, and Jimmy Garoppolo (most recently with the San Francisco 49ers) is expected to take over.

An integral part of the offence will be wide receiver Davante Adams, who has been one of the league’s best pass receivers for years. However, the 30-year-old, who came from the Green Bay Packers in a trade just over a year ago, is not yet completely convinced of the new direction: “The front office and I don’t see eye-to-eye when it comes to what’s best for us right now,” he said in an interview with “The Ringer”.

For Adams, one factor in his move to the Raiders was his close friendship with Carr, with whom he played together in college for the Fresno State Bulldogs. Wearing a jumper from that same university, he gave an interview in the Raiders locker room a few months ago. “I don’t think anybody here was happy about that decision. I wouldn’t be here if he wasn’t the quarterback. “

Adams wants to win Super Bowl with Raiders

About Garoppolo, his new pass rusher, the 30-year-old said, “If we implement a certain style of play, he and I will adjust well. But if we use him the wrong way, then it will be hard to maximise our potential.” On which playing styles Adams sees opportunities and risks, he left it open.

However, the Pro Bowler leaves no doubt about his goals for the upcoming season: “I will try to be as optimistic as possible, come what may. I had imagined it differently, but that’s the reality now. I want to win a Super Bowl with this team. “

Last season, Adams collected 100 catches for 1516 yards and 14 touchdowns. The Raiders finished the season with a 6-11 record.

Adams “doesn’t need Rodgers”

Personal numbers were especially important to Adams. According to him, there has been too much talk about him only playing at such a high level because he played quarterback with Aaron Rodgers at the Packers.

“Rodgers is a great quarterback. (…) But now nobody can say I’m good because of him. I’ve shown that – regardless of the quarterback – I’m consistently playing at a top level. You can feel free to write, ‘He doesn’t need Rodgers’.”
