Kansas City Chiefs mourn Norma Hunt – team founder’s wife dies at 85

She saw every single Super Bowl in NFL history. Now Norma Hunt – wife of the Kansas City Chiefs’ founder – has passed away at the age of 85.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the entire NFL are mourning the loss of Norma Hunt. The wife of late Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt passed away at the age of 85.

Hunt saw every single one of the 57 Super Bowls in NFL history. The last game she attended was her Chiefs’ Super Bowl triumph over the Philadelphia Eagles (38-35) in February this year. She was already part of the Chiefs family when the Super Bowl didn’t even have that name. After all, the idea came from Norma’s husband Lamar, who died in 2006.

Roger Goddell and NFL are “deeply saddened “

She is the mother of current Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt, who took over that post in 2010. The Chiefs have won seven AFC West titles and two Super Bowls since Clark Hunt took the helm – with his mother always keeping an eye on him and held in high regard throughout the league.

“The entire NFL family is deeply saddened by the passing of Norma Hunt, who played an important role in the NFL over the past seven decades,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement.

“An extraordinary woman “

The Hunt family also released an emotional statement, thanking Norma Hunt.

“Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of our mother Norma. She was a wonderful mother and an extraordinary woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Kind, generous and unfailingly positive, she was a unique person. Her joy and zeal for life were infectious. She loved to care for others and always had an encouraging word. She was a loyal friend, the perfect hostess and had the rare ability to make everyone she met feel appreciated and at ease. “

Mahomes also mourns

Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes also expressed his emotion on social media. “Mrs. Hunt was the best. We will all miss her,” Mahomes wrote on Twitter.
