Damon Arnette: Former Raiders cornerback charged after altercation with firearm

Another charge has been filed against Damon Arnette, the 2020 first-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders. The 26-year-old allegedly pulled out a handgun and threatened an attendant at a Las Vegas casino during an altercation.

Former NFL cornerback Damon Arnette has been charged in Nevada with allegedly pulling out a firearm during an argument with a Las Vegas casino employee in January 2022.

According to “ESPN”, the 26-year-old will have to stand trial for the crime in Las Vegas on 24 May. The charges, if convicted, could lead to a prison sentence if allegations are confirmed that Arnette threatened a clerk with a gun outside the Park MGM Hotel.

Last year, the 2020 first-round pick was already accused of another crime. But at the time, prosecutors dropped the drug and weapons charges because of a lack of evidence.

In addition, Arnette was sued in November 2021 by a woman who accused him of ramming her car with his SUV and injuring her before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred back in October 2020, according to Bleacher Report.

The former Ohio State star was charged with leaving the scene of an accident without permission and improper lane change, pleaded guilty and paid a fine.

Damon Arnette: Short NFL career of former first-round pick

Arnette played just 13 NFL games for the Raiders before being released in November 2021 after a video surfaced on social media of him threatening to kill someone while waving multiple guns around. However, no charges were brought after the incident.

Former Raiders general manager Mike Mayock told reporters at the time that the decision to fire Arnette had been “very painful” and that the team had “spent a lot of time, effort and resources trying to help him in all aspects of his life”. The video that surfaced, however, would have made further cooperation impossible.

When he was then arrested on suspicion of drug and weapons charges two months after the altercation outside the casino, the Kansas City Chiefs, who had previously given the player a futures contract, also released him.
