The Baltimore Ravens are simply unbeatable – at least in the preseason. In the win at the Arizona Cardinals, a rookie tight end plays his way to the forefront
Munich – Even without Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore Ravens continued their incredible streak in the preseason, notching their 22nd straight preseason win.
Head coach John Harbaugh’s team won 24-17 at the Arizona Cardinals, with the last preseason loss coming on 4 September 2015 against the Atlanta Falcons, 19-20.
Tight end Isaiah Likely stood out for the Ravens. The rookie was used in the first two quarters and recorded 100 yards on 8 attempts and scored a touchdown. Quarterback backup Tyler Huntley, who replaced Lamar Jackson as the starter, also completed 5 more passes for 29 yards, finishing 13 of 14 for 129 yards overall.
For the Cardinals, Greg Dortch caught the eye. The wide receiver caught four passes for 47 yards and added 25 yards on kick returns.
Concerns about Giants rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux
In another game, the New York Giants defeated Super Bowl contender Cincinnati Bengals 25-22. With Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow out, New York starter Daniel Jones was used. However, Jones was not particularly successful. Although he completed 14 of 16 passes for 116 yards, one of the two missed passes ended up in the hands of Cincinnati rookie Dax Hill.
Davis Webb did better. The sophomore backup led New York to victory with two touchdown passes to Alex Bachman after trailing 10-16.
However, the Giants suffered an injury setback. First-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux suffered a knee ligament in the second quarter. At least the defensive end left the field on his own two feet and walked towards the dressing room with only a slight limp. Although Thibodeaux also appeared to be in pain, he high-fived his teammates on the way to the locker room.
