Baltimore Ravens fly to London a week before International Game

After a bitter experience, the Ravens will spend a week in London preparing for the International Game against the Tennessee Titans.

The Baltimore Ravens want to be as well prepared as possible for the International Game in London next Sunday.

That’s why they already flew to the British capital on Monday – and thus much earlier than all other teams that played in Europe.

Normally, the teams only travel overseas on the Thursday before the games. The Ravens, however, are flying across the Atlantic almost a week before their clash with the Titans at Tottenham Stadium because they want to learn from a very unpleasant experience.

They played their first and so far only International Game in 2017 – and took the Jacksonville Jaguars to a crushing 7:44 defeat in London. It was the second-highest defeat in franchise history.

At the time, the squad had also kicked off on a Thursday.

There is no reliable data on the perfect departure date for International Games, said Ravens coach John Harbaugh. However, he said he was confident that an earlier arrival would not hurt.

Harbough: “Completely new approach

“It’s mainly to do with the fact that we didn’t look like that then. So we’re trying a complete approach now,” Harbaugh said.

He sees another advantage in the fact that the Ravens are also taking all their equipment to England. “We’ve got all the video analysis tools with us, all the medical supplies, the equipment, all those things – and the computers,” said the head coach: “As coaches and players, all we need to focus on is preparation and the game.”

In order to prepare perfectly for the game against the Titans, the Ravens have also accepted the fact that they have already left for Great Britain just twelve hours after landing from the away game in Pittsburgh, which they lost 10-17.
