In the current NFL offseason, Derrick Henry switched to the Baltimore Ravens. There he will form a deadly running duo with quarterback Lamar Jackson. Henry already has plenty of praise for Jackson. And other team members are also looking forward to the new connection
After eight years with the Tennessee Titans, star running back Derrick Henry has moved to the Baltimore Ravens. This marks the start of a new chapter for “King Henry” in his extremely productive NFL career to date. For the 30-year-old, it now means: new team, new city, new coaches and new team members.
However, the will to win remains the same. “I want to hold the trophy aloft at the end of the year. But that starts now if I work hard,” Henry is quoted as saying on the Ravens’ website.
His plan for the offseason is clear: “It’s been fun getting to know everyone and getting to do the work I love to do.”
Continued Henry, “I’m the new guy. I wanted to make sure I show up and show my teammates and the organization that I’m here and I’m committed. “
Derrick Henry on Lamar Jackson: “A great leader “
In Baltimore, Henry will also play with quarterback Lamar Jackson in the future. Together, the two could form a deadly running duo. Jackson is considered the best rushing quarterback in the league. He ran for 821 yards and five touchdowns last season alone.
Although he hasn’t known Jackson for long, Henry already has plenty of praise for his quarterback: “Lamar is a cool guy. You can tell he’s a great leader because everyone rallies around him.” He has a lot of energy, Henry continued. “His work speaks for itself,” he adds.
It could be the next productive season for Henry. In his first eight years, he has already rushed for 9,502 yards and 90 touchdowns. Statistics that he would certainly like to build on next season. Then in a feared running offense.
Baltimore Ravens: Even the defense is happy
Even those not part of the Ravens’ offense are feeling the anticipation of what this pairing of Jackson and Henry could produce. On the NFL’s website, Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith expressed excitement about just seeing what happens when he’s not on the field.
“I told some of my friends in the offseason that I might have to grab some popcorn on the sidelines while I watch these guys work,” Smith said.
It goes on to say of Henry, “I think he’s a great addition for us and will help us get to where we want to go.”
The Baltimore Ravens could be in for a glorious season thanks in part to newcomer Henry.
