Baltimore Ravens beat Cincinnati Bengals thanks to match winner Justin Tucker

The Baltimore Ravens have won the divisional duel against the Cincinnati Bengals. Lamar Jackson and Co. have Justin Tucker to thank for that. The kicker ensured the victory with four field goals.

Munich – The Baltimore Ravens have found their way back to success. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, Lamar Jackson and Co. celebrated a 19:17 victory (10:10) and now have three wins and two losses on their record.

The Ravens’ defence started the game particularly well and made the Bengals’ offence despair at the beginning. In the first four drives, Joe Burrow and his team only managed one first down. It was not until the fifth drive that last year’s Super Bowl participants were able to score their first points, when Joe Burrow found his tight end Hayden Hurst in the end zone. This was preceded by an interception by Lamar Jackson.

The Ravens, on the other hand, got off to a better start, taking the lead on their first drive after Justin Tucker made a 37-yard field goal. A touchdown pass from Lamar Jackson to Mark Andrews increased the lead to 10-0. A 40-yard field goal by Evan McPherson just before halftime sent the game into the break tied 10-10.

Cincinnati Bengals fight their way back

Then both teams struggled in the third quarter. The Ravens failed to convert a fourth down attempt, but got the ball back quickly after a Joe Burrow interception just one play later. Justin Tucker nailed a 58-yard field goal on the ensuing drive to take the lead (13-10).

The Ravens’ kicker was the match-winner in this game. After the Bengals were unable to successfully complete a fourth attempt two yards from the end zone, Lamar Jackson led his team down the field with a 91-yard drive. Tucker made it 16-10 with a 25-yard field goal and then Joe Burrow also showed his qualities.

The 25-year-old, who finished the game with 217 passing yards, two touchdowns and an interception, carried the ball himself into the end zone after 15 plays and put the Bengals in front (17:16) with about two minutes to go.

Justin Tucker made sure the Ravens won

However, it was the Ravens and Justin Tucker who would have the last word. With the clock running out and his fourth field goal (43 yards) that couldn’t have flown through the uprights more midway, he caused jubilation for the Ravens and disappointed faces for Cincinnati.

While Baltimore faces the New York Giants in week six, the Bengals have to travel to New Orleans to face the Saints.
