The NFL continues to head for a tangible scandal. After Brian Flores’ round-robin, another ex-coach, Hue Jackson, follows suit

Munich – The lawsuit from former Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores is rocking the NFL world.

On Tuesday, he filed a 58-page lawsuit in a Manhattan district court. The defendants: the NFL and three of its teams. They allegedly discriminated against Flores and many other black coaching colleagues on racial grounds, denying them positions as head coaches, offensive and defensive coordinators and general managers.

In the wake of this, other allegations came to light that could expose additional abuses within America’s most successful sports league. For example, Flores was reportedly offered up to US$100,000 per loss in the 2019 season to put the team in a better position at the draft – cue tanking.

“One conversation was about preparing less to win games: ”Get some plane tickets and take some holiday. For every defeat, I’ll give you US$100,000′. He literally said that to me,” Flores told “ESPN” on Wednesday about Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.

Hue Jackson confirms Flores allegations

If Flores’ allegations are true, it would be a tangible scandal and could have serious consequences for the Dolphins. But it could be even worse for the entire league if similar cases come to light.

And that’s exactly what it looks like.

That’s because former Browns head coach Hue Jackson, who was in Cleveland between 2016 and 2018 and had a 1-31 record in his first two seasons, dropped another bombshell.

So Browns owner Jimmy Haslam was “very happy about the failures”. When Jackson was asked if he was also offered money for it, he replied, “Believe me, it was a hefty sum. “

Kimberly Dienert, president of Jackson’s charity, also came forward to address the allegations, saying, “We have records that support Flores’ allegations. There was a similar case with the Browns. “

So, in addition to Jackson, other people in charge of the franchise, such as Sashi Brown, Paul DePodesta and Andrew Berry, current general manager of the Browns, are said to have received funds for voluntary tanking. Jackson, moreover, could prove every word he uttered.

In the course of the allegations, Flores repeatedly affirmed his hope that other African-American coaches would stand by him in the matter. With Jackson, he now seems to have found his first supporter.
